Tuition Policy

Enrollment Payment

At the time of enrollment the following fees are due (payable by check or cash):

Subsequent Tuition Payment

All subsequent payments are made automatically through bank account, using our EFT program with DepositExpress. Your tuition will be electronically transferred out of your account on the 25th of the month preceding. For instance, March tuition leaves your bank account on February 25th or the closest business day after February 25th. Please see the EFT enrollment form for more details.

EFT is our preferred payment method. If you would like to pay monthly tuition by check, there is an additional $10 processing and handling fee per subject per month. If paying by check the tuition is due by 25th for the following month. A late fee of $25 will be charged after the 1st of the month if the tuition is not received. Returned check fee is $30.

Transferring from another Kumon Center to the Tewksbury Center

As with many Kumon Centers, the price you agree on at enrollment will be the price your family pays for Kumon while you remain enrolled at the Tewksbury Center. As an extension of this, if you transfer to us from another center without taking a break longer than 60 days, we will honor the price you were previously paying.

Please request your child's Kumon student ID number from their instructor to bring with you.

Center Days and Times

Center is open for classes on

One-subject students attend class for approximately 20 - 30 minutes
Two-subject students will attend for approximately 45 min – 1 hour

It is important to keep in mind this time may vary depending on the student’s level, age, and the worksheets assigned.

It is important that students arrive on time to complete their assignment and supplemental activities for the day. We recommend that one-subject students arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. and that two-subject students arrive no later than 6:00 p.m.

Junior Kumon students will be asked to commit to a specific time.

In order to maintain an atmosphere conducive to study we request that only students enter the classroom area.

Is it Drop Off or Parent Stay?

Parents can wait in the parents waiting area or leave and come back later to pick up their child.

Absence Policy

Attending the classes regularly is a key part of the Kumon program. We garner a great deal of information by observing your child at work, which helps in effective lesson planning for your child.

But we do understant that emergencies happen and that you may miss a class at one time or another. If you know your child is unable to attend class, please call us. The more notice we have, the better able we will be to make the necessary adjustments to your child's plan and prepare the work for you to pick up. When you come to pick up your child's work, be sure to drop your child's completed homework with us. Completed and corrected assignments are used to develop and modify each student's individualized lesson plan. For this reason, new assignments will not be given after the 2nd consecutive unexcused absence until the previously assigned work is completed and returned.

If a student misses a regularly scheduled class without contacting us in advance, the work for that class will be reassigned for the next class.

Holidays and Vacations

Kumon students continue their studies when on holidays, vacations, or long trips. If you have vacation plans, I encourage you to take worksheets while you are away. Keeping up regular practice helps students retain information that they have learned. There are many options for a lighter workload, if you are worried about having time while you are traveling. Please be sure to notify us at least two class sessions in advance of any extended vacation in order to give us ample time to plan and organize for your child's absence.

A student is considered “discontinued” in the program after two consecutive months of absence. Once a student is discontinued the registration fee is required for re-enrollment in the program.

Termination Policy

If a student is going to drop out of class, either temporarily or indefinitely, written notice is required at least 30 days before the effective date. Your account will remain open and active until written notice is received. Your account will be closed 30 days after we receive your notice to terminate.

Paid tuition is non-refundable and is forfeited, should a student discontinue enrollment or if work is taken at any time during the month.

According to the KUMON North America policy, 'If work is received for any day during a month, tuition is due for the entire month.'

Home Grading

Parent grading of all work done at home is required; it is encouraged that grading be done the same day as the work so that corrections will be made as soon after the mistake as possible. Parents should also check that each worksheet packet has the child’s name, date and times (beginning and ending) recorded. Home grading helps the child to learn immediately from mistakes by correcting them while they are fresh in his/her mind. Your child is more motivated because you are involved and you are more motivated because you know exactly what your child is doing.

We provide Answer Books and a handy Parent's Guide to Homegrading to help you get started.

Answer Books

Parents can check out the answer books to assist with home grading. All Answer Books are to be returned. A $5 restocking fee will be charged for each lost Answer Book.

Center Calendar

Kumon is a year-round program of study. Although, we do observe some national holidays as well as a two week break in summer and a one week break at the end of December, specific dates of center closings will be posted in the parent waiting area.
