Education is the most important aspect of human life and no one should be deprived of it. It is the wealth which cannot be robbed and the more you share it with others, the more you gain it. It builds character, provides strength of mind and increases knowledge. It forms the basis for lifelong learning and inspires confidence to face challenges. It is the tool which helps in removing ignorance. It provides the skills to individuals to become more self-reliant and aware of opportunities and rights. There may be nothing more powerful a parent can give to their child than education.
With this belief, I always wanted to make my career in the field of education. I grew up in India and my background in teaching goes back to the time when I was doing my masters there; when I started giving private tutoring to school age kids. Then later when I came to America after marriage and became mother of two wonderful kids, I started actively volunteering my time in Westford Public Schools.
But I knew I wanted to do more and had been hearing lots of success stories about Kumon kids. So last year, when presented with an opportunity, I completed my training, became a certified Kumon instructor and opened the Kumon Center of Tewksbury. Here our mission is to guide students to master the complex math and reading skills that are the foundation for all learning.
I absolutely share Kumon's belief that every child can succeed. The program is student-centered and goal-oriented. It is differentiated to meet each individual child at his or her independent level, without reaching a frustration level. Kumon students are directly involved in setting and meeting their own goals, so they recognize that they are a big part of their own success. Kumon’s self-paced, individualized study program enables each student to become a confident, self-motivated learner, poised to achieve her or his full potential. Kumon truly is a learning method that empowers students to ultimately succeed on their own!

Alpana has a Masters degree in Mathematics. She is a mother of 2 kids and has experienced the benefits of Kumon program first hand.
